Why donate to the Children's Emergency Fund?

When you have to flee a crisis, you might pack your clothes, your phone, or a favourite toy. But you can’t pack security, income, a safe place to play or learn, or someone to fight for your rights. That’s what Save the Children is here for.

We provide what can’t be put in a bag.

In any crisis, children are always the most at risk– from the conflicts in Gaza, Ukraine, and Sudan to natural disasters like the recent earthquakes in the Philippines or Afghanistan.

When children are at their most vulnerable, Save the Children is there to support them. We are always among the first organisations to deliver life-saving support for children and their families.

But we can only do it with your support.

Children's Emergency Fund is a central pot of funding for emergencies. It gives us the flexibility to respond quickly and wherever the need is greatest.

With every year that goes by, crises become more frequent, last longer, and affect more people.

There are now twice as many natural disasters as there were 20 years ago.

The needs are huge, but so is our determination to reach every last child in crisis. We have the experience to limit the effects of disasters on children's lives – and our Children's Emergency Fund is the key to unlocking this expertise.

Please give to our Children’s Emergency Fund today. Your donation will allow our response teams to protect children better, faster, and for longer.

How are we helping children in emergencies?

We’re there before, during, and after a crisis.

We help communities prepare for the next disaster – because it’s not a matter of if, but when.

We’re there when disaster strikes, to provide the urgent supplies families need to survive.

BEFORE: We help prepare communities for disaster – securing relief items in disaster hotspots, reinforcing homes and schools with sandbags ahead of predicted flooding, vaccinating children against likely diseases, and improving early warning systems.

DURING: When disaster strikes, every second matters. That’s when we provide life-saving supplies. Food, cash, clean water, shelter. Blankets to keep warm and toiletries to keep clean.

AFTER: We stay to help children recover and thrive – providing access to education, primary healthcare services, child-friendly spaces and protection services, mental health support and helping them fight for their rights.

In 2024, nearly 300 million people – or 1 in 27 – will require humanitarian assistance.

Rising levels of conflict, climate disasters and hunger are threatening children’s lives and futures.

Almost 1 child in every 5 around the world is living in or fleeing from conflict zones.

Climate disasters and conflict have forced more people from their homes than at any other time since the year 2000.

A global hunger crisis is threatening the lives of 153 million children.

We need your support

In 2026, we aim to help 15.5 million children across 46 countries through our humanitarian work.*

But future disasters are always waiting in the wings…

The Children’s Emergency Fund is the fastest, most strategic and impactful way to support children in crisis – from sudden disasters to longer-term ‘forgotten’ crises.

Our Children’s Emergency Funds helps us prepare better, respond faster and protect longer when the next disaster strikes. Please donate what you can so we can provide children with the things you can’t fit in a bag.
