Safia is 28 and life as a sex worker is all she knows. Before she came to Daulatdia, she lived at the Madaripur brothel.

When it was demolished, she was forced to find another place to work. Selling her body for sex has been her only choice to make a living. Now she lives in Daulatdia with her husband and her three children.

Safia speaks with relief that her daughter Alpona is fed at the Save the Children School.

Family expenses have gone down and the school gives my little girl reading supplies, which I cannot afford.

If it wasn’t for the school I am convinced that children of sex workers would become engaged in crime or would be heavily into drugs.

As I did not get any opportunity to study, I am committed to supporting my daughter’s education. I don’t want her to be illiterate and depend on anyone else for survival.
