Bangladesh
In Bangladesh, Save the Children New Zealand is funding an early childhood education programme in Daulatdia, one of Bangladesh’s largest brothels. In addition to the 3,000 sex workers living in Daulatdia, 1,500 children also live there. From birth, these children are discriminated against. They are at high risk of becoming sex workers themselves or of living a life of crime and developing drug additions. Early childhood education is the first step towards building a brighter future for these children.
We also support a ‘positive discipline’ project in Bangladesh, which is dedicated to enabling and protecting learning environments for over 18,500 children.
