Sudan
Save the Children has worked in Sudan for over twenty years. Unfortunately this country has a history of violence. By the end of August 2010, 188,000 people had been displaced as a result of national conflict. At the end of that year, we estimated that 4.5 million, or 52% of the population, did not have adequate access to food sources.
Due to ongoing droughts, these statistics are growing worse.
In Sudan, Save the Children is helping children and youth access education, improving national child rights governance, protecting children affected by violence and natural disasters, improving children’s health, reducing malnutrition rates for under-fives and both saving lives and reducing suffering amongst those affected by conflict and natural disasters.
