Feature article - Pg. 8 - The Life You Can Save
This year almost nine million children under the age of five will die from preventable casuses like pneumonia, diarrhoea, or complications. That's one child every three seconds. Incredibly these lives could be saved for less than we spend on bottled water each year. Philosopher Peter Singer argues that we can and should change this approach and in doing so, we could eradicate world poverty. He spoke to Nicole Were about his book, The Life You Can Save.
"With a relatively small amount of money, you could save a child's life. We all spend money on things we don't really need. We have a culture that thinks it’s acceptable to spend everything on luxuries." - Peter Singer
