New Zealand's Save the Children song

 

Thanks to a special group of talented supporters, New Zealand has it's own Save the Children song, featuring Nik Carlson (who came second in NZ Idol in 2005) as lead singer.  The writer and performers donated their services for free.

The singer/soloist - Nik Carlson

Nik was runner up in NZ Idol 2005 - born in Masterton. He sang from early childhood on the NZ Country Music circuit, winning numerous awards before entering the pop world.

The songwriter - Amanda O'Grady

Amanda was born in the UK where she worked as a professional singer/songwriter. She won numerous awards for singing and writing, including North American CMA award (best original song by an International Artist). She has also written for signed UK artists.  Amanda wrote and arranged the Save the Children Song.  This is her pictured with Nik to the right. 

Newlands College Girls Choir

The choir gave the first public performance of the song at the 2005 Save the Children National Conference.

Julia Lloyd

Julia is the former Head Of Music at Newlands College. She played keyboards on the recording, directed the choir and coordinated the project with Save the Children. Julia worked with Amanda on various projects.

The song was recorded/produced at Marmalade Studios in Wellington NZ ( Marmalade sponsored part of
the recording too).
