Internet browsers save documents in a variety of ways which can often confuse users. To guarantee saving a document into your computer you should:
PC users:
Right click on the link: a popup menu will appear. Scroll down that menu and click on 'Save Target As'. You will be then prompted to choose a folder within your computer to save the file to. To open the document, find the folder you saved it in and double click.
Macintosh users:
Instead of right clicking, hold down the mouse button and the menu will appear as above
This website has been designed to support as wide a range of browsers and operating systems as possible. However, for best results you will need Internet Explorer 4 or higher or Netscape Navigator 4.7 or higher. Many browser suppliers upgrade for free.
The International Save the Children Alliance endeavours to make its websites compatible with all browsers. However, if you are using an older browser (a level 3.0 browser for instance), you may see inconsistencies in the presentation of pages.
It may help you to download a newer version of a browser to improve your general Internet experience.
The following are available to download for free:

The International Save The Children Alliance are working towards achieving a high level of accessibility for all users of its own and its members web sites.
Working with IT developers Sigmer Technologies Ltd, we have created a suite of web sites generated from site templates to which content is added using a custom built Content Management System (CMS). The web site templates together with functionality built into the CMS, create web pages which comply with the W3C Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (Priority Level1). These guidelines explain how to make web content accessible to people with disabilities. Priority Level 1 is described as "a basic requirement for some groups to be able to use Web documents".
Having achieved this basic level of accessibility The International Save The Children Alliance is continuing to work toward ever greater accessibility with the implementation of Priority Level2 standards currently under way.
There are a number of ways in which you can enhance the usability of our web pages.
Sorry we can't cover all browsers and their earlier versions but most recent browsers will allow you to set these options either under Tools>Internet Options...(Internet Explorer) or Edit>Preferences...(Netscape Navigator) in a way similar to that described below.
Internet Explorer 6.0
In order to override style sheets applied to our web pages go to Tools>Internet Options... >General .
Select Accessibility... and check options under 'Formatting' to remove specified colours, font styles or font sizes depending on your particular needs.
If you select 'Ignore font sizes specified on Web pages' you can now use the View>Text Size option on the browser menu bar to increase text size throughout the site.
If you select 'Ignore colors specified on Web pages' you can now set text and background to colours that work best for you. Go to Tools>Internet Options... >General and select Colors... Uncheck 'Use Windows colours' then set your text and background colours to those most suitable for reading.
Netscape Navigator 7.0
In order to view text at a larger size go to View>Text Zoom .
To set text and background to colours that work best for you go to Edit>Preferences... Under Category select Appearance>Colors . Uncheck 'Use system colors' and set your required text and background colours. Also, check 'Use my chosen colors, ignoring the colors and background image specified'.
We hope this helps you access the information on our web pages more easily whilst we continue to develop greater levels of built in accessibility. We welcome any comments or feedback from you as a user with certain accessibility requirements.
