The Nuba Mountains region, historically belongs to Northern Sudan, but culturally it belongs to a large extent to the South. The State spans about 80,000 square kilometres (about the size of Austria) and had a population of about 1.5 million in 2005. The Nuba Mountains region was the first to benefit from the end of hostilities in 2002 and since then, hundreds of thousands of internally displaced people have returned home to rebuild their shattered communities.
Rewrite the Future has been helping children get back into school and receive a quality education. This film, produced by Peter Jordan, an award winning American filmmaker, focuses on war and education through the eyes of children in the Nuba Mountains, who narrate and help direct the film.
